Ultrasound in Pregnancy
Ultrasound scan is currently considered to be a safe, non-invasive, accurate and cost-effective
investigation in the foetus. It has
progressively become an indispensible obstetric tool and plays an
important role in the care of every pregnant woman.
1. Foetal age and
anomalies. Ultrasound accurately estimates foetal age and calculates expected date
of delivery. Follow up scans monitor
foetal growth.
2.
3D/4D ultrasound in pregnancy. 3D/4D ultrasound generates exquisite images of the foetus’ face. Apart from a
recognizable human form, the images are
invaluable in diagnosing anomalies such as facial clefts. Foetal
ear malformations are diagnosed as well. The limbs are clearly displayed with detailed
images of hands,
feet, fingers and toes.
