Q. How do I book an appointment? A. To book an appointment simply call 08447365712 and our friendly customer services team will help you book an appointment at a convenient date and time for you.
Please note, a deposit of £ 30 is required to confirm bookings.
Q. What if I want to cancel my booking? A. We hope you do not feel the need to do so, however, if obliged to cancel your booking, please be aware, cancellations require minimum 7 working days notice to be eligible for a refund of the deposit fee. Instead of cancellation, if you would like to reschedule your appointment, we are happy to oblige at no extra cost to you
Where are you scans? We do majority of our scans at the Xercise Health and Fitness Centre, inside Xscape Castleford. We have our own purpose built room inside the health and fitness centre. We also scan on Fridays at a GP surgery in Methley, Leeds. Both clinics are close together, the Castleford clinic is situated next to the M62, at junction 32.
Is a deposit required to make a booking? We require a £30 deposit when booking to secure your appointment. This can be paid securely by card over the telephone, your card details go straight into our machine, and we do not make a note of any details. Alternatively you can pay via PayPal using the link on our home page, please make your booking before paying via PayPal.
How can I pay for my scan? You can pay for you scan by cash or card on the day. Unfortunately we cannot accept cheques, £50 notes or American express cards.
Does the scanning present any risk to the baby? A 3D/4D scan uses the same procedure as a regular obstetric scan at the hospital, there has been many research studies conducted over the years that show that 3D/4D scans pose no threat to your pregnancy.
How is the scan performed? The scan is performed by a fully qualified sonographer, all our sonographers also work for the NHS. It is performed on the abdomen same as all other obstetric scans.
Sometimes dating and viability scans do require an internal scan, this is optional and would be discussed with you at your scan.
Do I need to prepare for my scan? For foetal dating, viability and anatomy scans we require you to drink one pint of fluid an hour before your scan. For 3D/4D and gender determination scans there is no preparation, however we do ask that you bring chocolate and fizzy pop with you as this can help to stimulate your baby if it is in a difficult position.
There are certain preparations for medical scans such as fasting or filling your bladder, please enquire when making your booking.
At what gestation should I come for my 3D/4D scan? You can come for your 3D/4D scan after 24 weeks; however we do recommend 26-32 weeks. We do scan after 32 weeks but the quality is not guaranteed as there is less room to see the baby. For twins we suggest 24-28 weeks as the babies have less room around them.
Can I do anything to improve my 3D/4D scan? The scan is dependent on the position of the baby, the amount of fluid around the baby and the amount of skin, fat and muscle between the probe and the baby. Sometimes babies are in awkward positions and we cannot see the baby, in the case we ask you to take a short walk and consume chocolate and fizzy pop as this can help to stimulate the baby into a better position. We do try our best to get a perfect picture of your baby.
What happens if my 3D/4D scan isn’t successful? In some cases babies are in very difficult positions and we do not manage to get a good image of your baby. We do offer a free rebook service, where we will get you back again for a second scan, free of charge.
Who can I bring to the scan? We have no limit on guests, we can seat 4 guests and other family members and friends are welcome to stand in the room. We do have a second screen so everyone can share this wonderful experience.
Will you check my baby for abnormalities? Unless you have booked for a growth scan, anatomy scan or a well-being scan we will not check your baby in detail, however if we did see anything unusual we would notify you and take appropriate action.
What is the difference between a 3D scan and a 4D scan? 3D is still images of your baby, such as printed out photos and images stored on the CD , 4D is moving images of your baby, the scan is performed in 4D and the DVD is 4D. It is just one scan.
How long does my scan take? Medical scans take roughly 30 minutes. Nuchal translucency scans take up to 45 minutes as they include a scan and a blood test. 3D/4D scans take at least 30 minutes, however we do ask you to leave at least 90 minutes in case your baby is in a difficult position.
Do I need to bring anything with me? For all obstetric scans we do ask you to bring your maternity notes with you and for gender scans and 3D/4D scans we also ask you to bring chocolate and fizzy pop as this can help to stimulate your baby.
Can you tell me the gender of the baby? We can determine the gender of the baby from 16 weeks so we can tell you at a 3D/4D scan the gender of your baby for no extra cost. If you do not want to know the gender of your baby we will keep away from the lower body of the baby and focus of the face. Please make it clear at the beginning of your scan if you do not want to know.
Will I receive everything on the day? We will give you your DVD, CD, photos and medical reports on the day. If we do encounter any difficulties photos will be posted out within 2 working days by first class post.

The Parent & Baby Show North 3rd - 4th July 2010 (Leeds)...
we have been for 2 scans this year and how pleased I am with the service we received. The sonographer is so nice, you never feel rushed and makes you feel very reassured, both times she took the time to explain everything and even when the baby was in an awkward position nothing was to much trouble.
